An Introduction

So, who I am.? Well, my name is John McVey, and I am an Intuitive and Tarot Coach. I am also a very positive, although also a straightforward and patient tarot reader, I’m constantly learning and growing, as I know that I can only help others if I help myself first. I’ve earned many certifications including in Spiritual Life Coaching, in Tarot, Numerology, Symbology, and others.

My core values and how I work with clients

I’ve identified with three core values that mean the most to me. These are empathy, authenticity, and growth. These values are what govern how I run my business and work with my clients.

Empathy: Showing empathy to clients and their needs.

Considering what clients want or need from their session with me. Showing empathy and compassion when clients are dealing with difficult life situations, including referring clients to counselling services when needed.

Authenticity: Giving an authentic tarot and coaching session.

Tarot isn’t about fortune telling. An authentic tarot session looks at current energies around people and situations. It doesn’t try to see the future. Tarot offers the opportunity to look at life situations through a different lens, to step back, before choosing how to move forward.

Growth: Helping clients grow with their experiences and improve their lives.

Offering options and alternative ways of looking at life situations. Helping clients see different possible solutions to difficulties. Providing clients with the opportunity to learn and grow with their life experiences in ways they may not have considered.

My Spirituality & Divination

I’d like to tell you a little about how I ended up doing this. For sure if anyone told me 20 years ago that I would be reading tarot cards in the future, I wouldn’t have believed them.

My perspective was that I needed science to tell me that something was real before I would believe it. I scoffed at such things as divination and mediumship, putting them down as superstitious nonsense. I was an objectivist, or that’s what I thought.

I read books mainly espousing business based objective ideologies and steered well clear of anything “mystical.”

Or at least I did, for a few years. It’s a strange feeling you get though, when somehow you just know that there’s something “missing” from your world view, but you just can’t nail it down. There was a deeply hidden part of me crying to be heard but being suppressed in the name of objectivism.

How strange that I didn’t acknowledge my own “mystical” nature, when I always seemed to feel drawn to the bookstore or library just at the right time for my next book to “jump out” at me almost as soon as I found myself right there in front of where it’s sitting on the shelf. How strange I didn’t notice the lights change in my favour all the way there. How strange I didn’t notice those little synchronicities and how my reading choices slowly led me to a somewhat different world view than that of the staunch objectivist.

I’ve always believed that it’s important to look at all sides of an argument before making up my mind about what to believe. As such, my reading expanded beyond the strictly objective, as I began to delve into that mystical space I had previously avoided.

Before I knew it, I was studying runic lore and how to read and interpret rune stones. Not long after, I bought my first deck of tarot cards.

The more I read, the more I practised. The more I practised, the more it worked. The more it worked, the more I believed.

So, over many years, the sceptic turned into the believer and reading turned into practising.

This personal study over the years led to my adopting a mainly non-denominational pagan philosophy. My general philosophy is that I believe it is up to everyone to decide for themselves who they are. We all feel our way through life as best we can, learning and growing as we go. But we live in a world where we get constantly bombarded with perspectives, teachings, and points of view. What to believe? Who to listen to? And all that time your answers lie within, not without. Through tarot and intuitive coaching, I help people to find those answers within.
